A storm wakes up the Mediterranean. A village is devastated, the harvests ransacked. On the beach, the sea lays down the body of a whale.
With his tractor, his harvest bucket and three kitchen knives, Corbac, a misanthropic winegrower, wants to save the skeleton from a sanitary blast. Piece by piece, day and night, the biggest of the creatures marches past the school, the church, the distillery, and awakens the fears and violence of the villagers.
But Corbac is seriously ill. He cannot carry out his mad enterprise alone.
